

In an effort to revive the legacy of HH Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar - the last Maharaja of Mysore, MAYA has embarked a multi-media approach.Complementing the YouTube series – Remembering the Maharaja, & Dasara Soliloquies this podcast – The King Speaks is an initiative to share select speeches of the Maharaja – read by members of the Royal family, with an introduction by MAYA CHANDRA.

Episode 1
Episode 1 features the Coronation Speech of the Maharaja, as he was anointed as the King on September 8, 1940. The introduction by Maya Chandra follows with the reading of this Speech by Shri Rajachandra Urs, the son-in-law of the Maharaja.
Episode 2
This episode features the Speech to the Joint Session of the two houses of the State Legislature, inaugurating the reformed Constitution of 1940 delivered on June 9th , 1941.
The introduction by Maya Chandra highlights the historical background to the formation of the representative Assembly by HH Chamarajendra Wadiyar which paved the way for democratic governance and formation of the Legislative Assembly.This Speech is read by Shri Rajachandra Urs, the son-in-law of the Maharaja.
Episode 3
This is a special episode created for the Dasara festival, in which Princess Kamakshi Devi, the daughter of HH Jayachamaraja Wadiyar recollects the glory of the Dasara, as it would happen in the Mysore Palace.
Episode 4
This is a special episode created for the Dasara festival, in which Princess Indrakshi Devi, the daughter of HH Jayachamaraja Wadiyar remembers her childhood days celebrating the Dasara festival in the Mysore Palace.
Episode 5
This episode features Shri Varchus Urs – the son of Late Princess Meenakshi Devi – the daughter of HH Jayachamaraja Wadiyar as he narrates how Dasara was celebrated in the Mysore Palace. He also reminisces about the fun, games and food that he and his cousins would indulge during the 10 daysof carefree holidays at the Palace.
Episode 6
This is a special episode that features the Speech of His Highness Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar , broadcast to the People of the State on the occasion of the First Anniversary of the Indian Republic on Friday the 26th January 1951, from the All-India Radio, Mysore. The introduction by Maya Chandra follows with the reading of this Speech by Shri Rajachandra Urs, the son-in-law of the Maharaja.
